In this context (the log size mix etc) it seems to me that the key issue is somehow to get a number of farm forest producers to co-operate with a market development plan, focused on a local firewood market, so as to have a predictable market for the thinnings. Is this perhaps a matter for an ICOS regeneration agenda? I am currently trying to interest the 'farm partnership scheme' people in this.
