I A whirl of white as the branches and twigs grow a coat of frozen snow. Alder twigs, seed long since dispersed, making lovely patterns in the snow. But the ground feeding birds need hedges and trees to find their food. ……. And little patches of wildness…..

This site is about changing the face of Irish forestry. I want to tell others who don't know, that there is another way to manage forestry plantations for timber production without cutting down the very forest that the timber grows in. It's about trees and forestry. It's about my observations in woodlands, watching how they grow and how they evolve and where the human being fits in to this picture. I'll be writing about forestry events; Pro Silva Ireland forest visits; the Local Project in the South Leitrim area; and my own experiences in managing forests in the Cavan/Leitrim area.
